this is a quickie. houston came to town on sunday and we won! i thought i was going to be seeing the game on tape delay, but due to the three hour rain delay, i actually got to watch it as it happened.
we lined up like this (4-4-2 diamond stylee) – or at least it kinda looked like this to me:

we played pretty well. solid. nothing too flashy or anything. our defense is fabulous this year – stingy as fuck! we aren’t scoring goals in buckets or anything – maybe more like drops. but we’re frequently holding teams to nothing, which is good and then beating them by one. which is resultish. and when we do score, it looks like this:
that was a slick chip from jen hoy. classy. it was also her first for the season, so hopefully now that she’s gotten her first, the pressure will be off and she will score more and more and more. do it!
something else that happened in the game was melissa tancredi making her red star debut. and while she didn’t score and her touches were a bit rusty, as soon as she was out on the field she was actively involved. she was finding spaces and making herself dangerous the entire time she was out there. so hopefully with a few more practices she will get her touch back. but i will say, it was exciting to see and optimism inspiring.
